Alzheimer's Disease

Phase 3 - Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled, Parallel-Group, 20-Month Safety and Efficacy Study of TRx0237 in Subjects With Mild Alzheimer's Disease.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be under the age of 90
  • Diagnosed with Mild Alzheimer’s Disease
  • In stable medical condition
  • Have a family member, friend or caregiver that can accompany participant to the study visits.
  • MMSE score of 20-26 and Clinical Dementia rating total score of 0.5 to 1

Qualified participants may receive:

  • Study-required doctor's care
  • Study-required lab tests
  • Investigational medication

Amnestic Mild Cognitive Impairment Due to Alzheimer's Disease

Phase 3 - Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled, Parallel-Group, 24-Month Safety and Efficacy Study of Merck-8931 in subjects with amnestic mild cognitive impairment due to Alzheimer's Disease (AD).

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be between the ages of 50 and 85
  • Have a diagnosis of aMCI (Amnestic Mid Cognitive Impairment) or have noticed a memory decline with gradual onset and slow progression for at least a year
  • In stable medical condition
  • Have a family member, friend or caregiver that can accompany participant to the study visits

Qualified participants may receive:

  • Study-required doctor's care
  • Study-required lab tests
  • Investigational medication

ADHD (Children) Study

We are currently running an efficacy trial using Concerta in conjunction with an appetite stimulant. If your child needs to be evaluated and treated before the school semester is over, we can get them in, and started within a week.  We will provide EKGs, labs, and a physical, medical, and psychiatric work-up at NO COST.

Features of the study:

  • 12 week study-site in Sherman Oaks.  All appointments will be held at parents' convenience on weekends.
  • Report can be sent to current physician at the end of the study
  • Even if the child is not currently diagnosed with ADHD, if there is evidence of ADHD, they may still be eligible to participate. Our physicians will perform a thorough evaluation to confirm a diagnosis.
  • If the child is currently on stimulant medication, they must discontinue use for only 2 weeks prior to the study. 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Diagnosis or suspicion of ADHD.
  • Child must not be on stimulant medications for at least 2 weeks prior to the study
  • No history of uncontrolled seizures
  • No history or evidence of psychosis
  • At or above the 5th percentile in weight

Bipolar I Disorder

Do you have Bipolar I Disorder and are stable or feeling depressed on your current medications? If so, you may qualify for our research study. Investigational medication, study-related care, and compensation for time and travel may be provided.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Diagnosis of Bipolar I Disorder
  • Currently stable OR feeling depressed despite medication

Major Depressive Disorder

Are you, or is someone you know, a female between the ages of 18 to 65 who has been diagnosed with moderate to severe Major Depressive Disorder? If so, you may qualify to participate in a new research study evaluating the efficacy of a new investigational treatment.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a female between the ages of 18 and 65
  • Have a diagnosis of moderate to severe Major Depressive Disorder

Major Depressive Disorder

Have you been diagnosed with major depression, but continue to have depression symptoms despite having taken anti-depressant medications? If so, you may qualify to participate in a new research study looking at the effectiveness of a new investigational medication.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be over the age of 18
  • Have a current diagnosis of Major Depressive Disorder
  • Have shown an inadequate response to standard antidepressant treatment.

Migraines Research Study

Schuster Medical Research Institute is conducting a clinical research study of an investigational medication in the treatment of Migraines.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • For the past 3 months, must have experienced headaches at least 15 days a month, with at least 8 of those days being migraine days. 
  • Be between 18 and 65 years of age

  • Investigational medication
  • Compensation for time and travel

Schizophrenia Outpatient Study

If you have a friend or family member who is being treated for schizophrenia and is still struggling to learn or remember information, he or she may be eligible for the Cognitiv medical research study. The Cognitiv study is evaluating an experimental add-on drug that is taken with a patient’s current medication and may help with concentration.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be 18-50 years of age
  • Be medically diagnosed with schizophrenia for at least 3 years
  • Be receiving a stable dose of an antipsychotic drug (other than clozapine) for at least 8 weeks prior to the study
  • Reside in a stable living situation and have someone who can provide information about himself or herself to study doctors and staff members
  • No history of skin allergies, seizures, no alcohol or drug abuse within three months, no head trauma, no active suicidal ideation, no gastrointestinal surgery, no known HIV+ diagnosis.

  • Reimbursement for time and travel

Migraines Research Study

Schuster Medical Research Institute is conducting a clinical research study of an investigational medication in the treatment of Migraines.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Have a history of migraines for at least one year
  • Between 18 and 60 years of age
